I have been using this product for over 10 years both my skin and hair. Yes, it works great as hair gel but I don't blow dry my hair afterwards so I'm not sure how it does under heat).
As hair gel, I've been using it almost every day and I highly recommend it.
I like it for:
- Being fragrance free (I have allergies)
- No color added
- No animal testing
- Will not stain
It loses 1 star for it's claim of being "100% PURE ALOE VERA GEL". Ingredients: Aloe vera gel, water, triethanolamine, tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E), carbomer 940 tetrasoduim EDTA, DMDM hydantoin, diazolidinyl urea .... I'm no rocket scientist but that's NOT 100% pure aloe vera gel.

unfortunately I bought this product and it contains Triethanolamine which I found is not to be used in products that are left on the skin, I will be throwing this away but wanted to warn others before they order that this may not be the product they want, I will stick with straight Aloe Vera Gel. "Triethanolamine, safe for use in cosmetics and personal care products designed for discontinuous, brief use followed by thorough rinsing from the surface of the skin. In products intended for prolonged contact with the skin, the concentration of Triethanolamine.. should not exceed 5%." [...]

 Best for sunburn and general skin care Nov 25, 2007

I have fair, dry skin and have had persistent problems with it flaking and getting burned easily. Got a really bad burn last July and tried some other brands with anesthetics and other garbage in them and were no where near as effective as the pure aloe vera. This was the largest bottle I could find and went through two of them (yeah, it was that bad). Amazing stuff.
Also good for my dry skin as I've tried just about everything on that as well; expensive botanical treatments, dermatologist prescribed medicines, etc. Aloe seems to be the magic bullet for me. Try it. Couldn't hurt! Did see a review about the "sticky film" left behind on another site. Uhhh, yeah if you don't rub it in until it penetrates the skin, then you're gonna have a film of aloe on the surface. A little of this stuff goes a long way for general skin care. You need larger amounts for burns, and it will penetrate faster on burned skin because it soaks it right up.

I began using aloe vera for sunburns about 20 years ago. Soon after I also began to use it as an after shower moisturizer, for my face in particular. Skin tends to feel rather tight and dry following a shower. This became part of my routine and I haven't looked back. For 20+ years now following every shower ... occasionally at other times during the day I have been using aloe. I have always liked the fact that it was natural, non-greasy and essentially disappeared about five minutes after using with no residue leaving your skin properly moisturized. Evidence suggests that aloe provides significant benefits far exceeding simple sunburn treatments. This seems to be backed up by the fact that island residents where aloe is prevalent and used regularly tend to have skin looking years younger than the user's true age.
My preference is towards the more natural. Aloe from the plant is a clear gel - not green as many products show it. I suppose some manufacturers have made it green because that color is either expected or more pleasing in some way but if you are looking for natural you want it clear and as close to 100% aloe vera as is possible. Fruit of the Earth Aloe Vera fills the bill on all fronts. 100% aloe vera, no added color, no added alcohol etc. It has become our house favorite.
Side note: at the time I began using it I was not seeking a youth potion, just a way of getting rid of that tight dry feeling following a shower. I don't know if credit belongs with the aloe, heridity, luck or some combination but my skin appears quite a bit younger than my age should dictate. Take that for what it is.

I have been using this product since the late 80s or early 90s and the whole family loves it. It is made of pure aloe vera and, as a bonus, it also has a small amount of lidocaine which delivers just the right amount of numbing for your irritation--whatever it might be. We use both the gel and the spray for burns, sunburn, insect bites, poison ivy.
